Nesting is an abstract suggestion of a womb with the beginnings of a baby inside. The actual egg can be removed and held in one's hand. The inside of the womb echo's the color of gold to represent warmth and comfort. I was pregnant with my third child at the time and was working on a very structural, balanced sculpture of gymnasts. I had to put that aside and create what I was feeling. I completed the piece in one week, a record for me.
